We begin on the slower moving section of the Peñas Blancas River. Enjoy a relaxing 2 hour float with no motor, only the incredible sounds of nature around you. Our expert bilingual naturalist guide will describe the many many different flora and fauna of the region. Along the way you will see 2 species of sloths, 3 types of monkeys, Spectacled Owls, 3 species of Toucans, crocodiles, Jesus Christ Lizards, caiman, different colored iguanas, mammals, and a variety of birds. You will be surrounded by trees over 100 years old as we look for more animals including the “Blue Jean” Poison Dart Frog. Our guide will educate you on the many medicinal purposed of plants in the rainforest. We stop at the “Jail Tree” where you can see one of the smallest flying mammals in Costa Rica. You will also learn of the interesting relationship and comparison between frogs and humans. Finally we re-board the rafts for our final 40 minute float to Boca Arenal while we continue to enjoy the scenery. The return trip to La Fortuna allows you to see the extensive agriculture system of San Carlos country. * Wear comfortable clothing with tennis shoes or sandals (Cotton socks are necessary for rubber boots –provided- on hike).
